These docs are not up to date yet. The app is moving faster than we can describe it. These pages cover Watchpost 0.1.0 alpha (build 444) and may be incomplete or out of date. Details

Development status

The hub connects devices at a site to the Watchpost app through a server you control. Feature availability depends on the hub version, app platform and build. This page separates available workflows from combinations that still need testing; it gives no release dates.

  • Multiple sites and networks on one hub, with separate mapped networks to avoid address conflicts.
  • A list of hubs and a hub screen with sites, tunnels and router status.
  • Site setup with a MikroTik RouterOS 7 script or a WireGuard configuration for other routers.
  • Several connection paths for a site, including direct, hub and VPN paths, with connection checks.
  • Per-person access tokens and controls to revoke an individual’s access.
  • Account-based invitations, access packages and Inbox in compatible builds. The account service and website account are no longer merely future plans; their availability depends on the installed versions and configuration.

Android includes hub lists, hub connection settings and site paths. It does not reproduce every Apple setup and people-management screen. Do not assume that a workflow shown on Mac has an identical Android wizard.

A successful router handshake does not test every camera feature. Verify the paths you actually use:

  • Live video and sound for each device protocol.
  • Archive playback and export through the selected route.
  • Mobile access outside the site’s network.
  • Recovery after a network interruption, hub restart and router restart.
  • Invitations, access expiry and revocation with your app and hub versions.

Tests on one recorder model do not establish compatibility with every device. Long streams and the limits of older recorders also need attention: see Hub limits.

Support for more router setup workflows and transport options remains separate from existing features. End-to-end encryption to the router, alternative relay transports and a hosted hub service should not be assumed available unless the release you install explicitly provides them.

For the current app’s workflow, start with Connect a site, Inbox and Transfer devices.
