Manage devices
The registry is the list of devices saved in Watchpost. Open Devices (⌘4 on Mac) to manage it. A device can stay in this list without appearing in Live or opening a connection automatically.
Find and select a device
Section titled “Find and select a device”On Mac, use the sidebar to choose a site, hub or cloud account, then select a device in the table. Its card shows connection details, channels and available actions. Search the list to narrow the selection. You can select several rows to act on them together.
On iPhone, iPad and Android, open the Devices tab. Expand a device to see its channels and use its menu for available actions. Mobile menus and forms differ from the Mac table.
Choose what appears in Live
Section titled “Choose what appears in Live”Turn on Show in Live, or Show in Cameras on mobile, to include a device in the camera view. Keep Only in Registry removes it from Live while keeping its saved connection.
Hiding a channel from the grid is a separate action: the device remains in Live. See Live view. Network equipment has no video channels and stays in the registry.
Change a connection
Section titled “Change a connection”On Mac, open the device menu:
- Rename… changes its name in Watchpost.
- Connection… opens the connection fields. Test the connection before saving a changed address, port or login.
- Duplicate… starts a new entry based on the selected device, where duplication is available.
- Check Connection checks availability and refreshes device information.
- Restart the Device… asks the device to restart and requires confirmation. Its video will be interrupted.
Some actions are unavailable for cloud connections or devices received through shared access. Changing a saved connection does not change the camera’s own network settings; those are in Device settings.
Organize devices into sites
Section titled “Organize devices into sites”On Mac, select devices and choose Move to Site in their menu. Choose an existing site, No Site, or New Site…. A move can change the connection path and inherited map location. See Organize devices into sites for platform instructions and the consequences of deleting a site.
Work with several devices
Section titled “Work with several devices”To prepare new connections together, use Add several devices. The actions below apply to devices already saved in the registry.
On Mac, select several rows to move them to a site, include them in Live, check their connections or export the selection. For compatible devices, the menu also offers configuration snapshots and device configuration files. Unsupported devices are skipped. A failure list identifies devices whose operation failed, but a saved snapshot can still have unread blocks; check its details too.
Import and export transfer saved connections, not video recordings. See Transfer devices.
Remove a device
Section titled “Remove a device”Choose the removal action in the device menu and review the confirmation. The device leaves the Watchpost registry. Its recordings and settings remain on the device.
To stop displaying a device while keeping its connection, leave it in the registry instead. To hide just one channel, use the grid controls.
