Xiongmai

Xiongmai devices speak DVRIP, the protocol on port 34567. The app uses it directly, so these devices get every feature the app has: live view with a choice of transport, camera control, the archive, events and settings.

Many budget cameras and recorders sold under other brand names use the same protocol. The app adds them as Xiongmai / HiSilicon devices.

Live video can come over RTSP or DVRIP. The Live Video switch in the device’s menu sets how: Automatic (RTSP, else DVRIP), RTSP Only or DVRIP Only. A device added through the vendor’s cloud uses DVRIP only, so the switch is not shown for it.

The camera moves by pan, tilt, zoom and focus, on the axes you choose. See Camera control.

The archive plays the recorder’s recordings. A clip exports as MP4 with the picture copied as it is, or as the recorder’s own files (.h264), byte for byte. See Archive.

Motion and alarms come over a connection that the app keeps for each device in Live. See Events.

The sections are described in Device settings. A recorder also has channel modes and IP channels there. A recorder can take cameras on its IP channels over DVRIP or ONVIF. See Adding a device.

A device can be reached through the manufacturer’s cloud by its serial number, the Cloud ID, and needs no address. The cloud must be switched on in the device’s own settings. How long the connection can take is in Adding a device.

Port What it is for
34567 DVRIP: live, events, archive, settings and camera control
554 RTSP: live video over RTSP
8899 ONVIF on a Xiongmai camera, when you add it as an ONVIF camera

For devices added by address, Android offers live view, snapshots, camera control, archive and export, events and device settings. The settings include selected forms and an advanced editor; they differ from the Apple interface. Cloud ID connections are not yet available on Android.

Dedicated settings guides: information and time, recorder channels, recording and device snapshots, encoding, image and masks. Their availability differs on Android.

Also see Detection and analytics, Alarms and event actions, Address and protocols and Network services. The available forms depend on the protocol and device.

See Device users and Device log and maintenance for account permissions, log tools and restart, including platform differences.
